Ala. Gov: Non-Christians are Not My Brothers

Speaking at a post-inaugural gathering inside a church, newly elected Alabama governor Robert Bentley told the crowd that Christians are his brothers and sisters, but those who haven’t accepted Christ are not. According to a story in Yahoo! News as reported by The Birmingham News, the Anti-Defamation League was shocked by Bentley’s remarks, saying it brings into sharp question whether or not non-Christians will receive equal treatment during his tenure as governor. Officials at the Birmingham Islamic Society questioned the meaning of Bentley’s remarks, asking, “Does it mean that those who according to him are not saved are less important than those who are saved? … We don’t want evangelical politicians.” Bentley responded afterward that he hadn’t meant any offense.
