The Bible Miniseries Receives Three Emmy Nominations

The Bible miniseries has been nominated for three 2013 Emmy Awards: best miniseries, best sound mixing, and best sound editing. Co-producer Roma Downey told The Christian Post that the nomination was “a blessing.”

“Mark and I have poured our hearts and souls into this series,” Downey wrote in an email. “We have worked so hard for four years now, it has been a labor of love that deepened not just our faith but our marriage and our friendship. We are very grateful to the academy for recognizing the Bible series and we are thrilled to share this nomination with our cast and crew from all over the world who worked hard with us to bring the story of our Bible to the screen.”

The miniseries’ first episode garnered more than 13 million viewers, and the DVD became the top-selling miniseries ever.

The couple has agreed to produce a sequel called A.D: Beyond the Bible, which will trace the beginnings of Christianity after Jesus’s death and resurrection.

The Emmy Awards program will air September 22, 2013 at 8:00 ET on CBS.
