Jon Acuff and Dave Ramsey Perform in Live Boxing Match to Raise Money for Jesus Juke Awareness

On April 2, 2014, at 10:00 AM EST, popular Christian satire blogger Jon Acuff and leadership guru/harbinger of financial peace Dave Ramsey will take the stage together in Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a rare, one-time-only boxing event to raise awareness for “Jesus juking,” an epidemic among today’s Christians that Acuff refers to as “the most widespread and pervasive form of blame-shifting our generation has ever invented.”

The duo will don boxing gloves and silky shorts to duke it out in front of an audience of nearly 200,000, with a live recap to be broadcast on major cable channels later in the day.

Acuff, author of Stuff Christians Like and Quitter, is the mastermind behind the boxing event he’s calling “the biggest event to hit the stage since that ‘living biblically for a year’ lady tightrope-walked across the English Channel.”

Ramsey hired Acuff back in 2010 to aid in leveraging social media for the spread of Ramsey’s financial advice, for which Acuff thanked him with a book dedication in Gazelles, Baby Steps and 37 Other Things Dave Ramsey Taught Me About Debt.

Acuff left the Lampo Group in 2013 to pursue other ventures. Since then, many have speculated on the true reason behind the resignation. Ramsey declined to comment on the status of the company’s relationship with Acuff, merely stating it was “just like Financial Peace University but in reverse.”

When asked about whether the age difference and his complete lack of training as a pugilist would affect his chances of winning the boxing match, Ramsey replied, “I don’t know, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.”

A portion of the funds raised will cover the self-publishing costs for Acuff’s new memoir, Don’t Even Try to Jesus Juke Your Way Out of This One: Things My Mother Told Me, to be released posthumously in early 2121.
