Worship is about “removing all the space” between us and God, according to Steffany Gretzinger.
“After the Garden, there was a need to have a practice that would cause us to remember, to return, and to reconnect.” This is in contrast to what Gretzinger believes Adam and Eve must have experienced, which would have been worship flowing out of conversation with and nearness to God.
“I don’t know how you could walk with him in a garden in the cool of day and not spill over with ‘worship’ anyway,” Gretzinger says.
Yet here, in our fallen world, we have to remind ourselves of the overwhelming love of God. This love, according to Gretzinger, should be the motivation to worship God with abandon.
