Children’s Sermons for Christmas (cont.)
7. Follow the Star
Object: Paper star or star ornament
Theme: God guides those who seek him
Bible Verse: Matthew 2:2
Hold up the star. Talk about how the wise men followed God’s sign until they found Jesus. Tell kids that when we look for Jesus—through Scripture, prayer, and worship—God leads us too.
8. Gifts for the King
Object: Wrapped packages
Theme: Giving your heart to Jesus
Bible Verse: Matthew 2:11
Explain the wise men’s gifts and ask, “What can we give Jesus?” Kids might say kindness, obedience, worship, love, or helping others. Jesus wants our hearts more than anything wrapped in paper.
9. Good News of Great Joy
Object: A megaphone or rolled paper announcement
Theme: Sharing the good news
Bible Verse: Luke 2:10
Have kids pretend to make an announcement. Share how the angels told the shepherds that everyone gets to hear the good news. Encourage kids to share joy and kindness with others.
10. Peace on Earth
Object: A paper dove or peace sign
Theme: Jesus brings true peace
Bible Verse: Luke 2:14
Talk about how Christmas can feel noisy and busy, but the angels promised peace. Jesus gives us peace inside our hearts, even when life is stressful or confusing.
11. The Name Above Every Name
Object: Name tag that reads JESUS
Theme: Jesus’ name means “God saves”
Bible Verse: Matthew 1:21
Show the name tag and share the meaning of several names. Then share what the angel told Joseph: Jesus’ name shows his mission—to save us. Kids learn that Jesus’ name is powerful and full of love.
12. God’s Love Wrapped in Flesh
Object: A wrapped present
Theme: Jesus is God’s greatest gift
Bible Verse: John 3:16
Hold the present and ask who likes receiving gifts. Then explain that Christmas is all about the gift God gave the whole world: His own Son. Jesus brings forgiveness, hope, and new life.
Help Kids Know the Meaning of Christmas
As you prayerfully prepare children’s sermons for Christmas, remember to point kids to Jesus. The heart of Christmas is simple yet powerful: God loved us enough to enter our world, and Jesus came to save us. That’s good news for every child, everywhere!
