1. Seek God
Any relationship that puts seeking God as a priority will find that it has an endurance and strength that is unmatched. In seeking God you will not only learn more about yourself but also how you can selflessly love the other person in a way that reflects the image and attributes of Jesus.
2. Be Honest
Honesty is key when it comes to any type of relationship. Whether it be with your parents, your spouse, your brother or sister, building a stronger relationship will depend on the level of honesty you are willing to expose. Sometimes this can be extremely tough for people, especially if they have a past they are ashamed of or failures they are too embarrassed to admit. The beauty of honesty is that it allows people an all-access pass to your feelings and emotions. When you allow someone into your life at this kind of level, the strength of your relationship will grow stronger than you ever could have imagined.
3. Show Forgiveness
This one is easier said than done. Forgiveness is one of those things that everyone talks about, but in reality few actually go through with. It’s one thing to tell someone you forgive them, but it’s a whole different ball-game when that person can truly act upon it. When you allow forgiveness to consume your relationships, you will soon come to see that resentment and grudges will have no place to infect them. Forgiveness and grace will help take your relationships to a level that cannot be matched. Grudges and grace don’t mix.
