5. Origami

Our kids also did for the retirement home ministry. They made simple origami birds. Then on the wings, they wrote Matthew 10:31. “So don’t be afraid. You are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

6. Decorating Rooms

One week, kids decorated the walls for their small-group rooms. We provided some arts supplies, canvasses, and general instruction. Then they made art for their own rooms.

By doing this, children served guests by providing with a colorful environment. An added bonus: They took more ownership of their space because they were invested in it.

7. Teacher Appreciation

We bought little glass jars, fruit-flavored tootsie rolls, and mailing labels. Kids filled the mason jars with tootsie rolls. Then they wrote on the mailing labels “Thanks for the ROLL you play in my life” and decorated them before taping the labels to the jars. Search online for other fun teacher appreciation ideas.

8. Classmate Encouragement

We bought snack-sized Kit Kat bars, ribbon, and little paper cards. The kids punched a hole in the paper cards and in the corner of the Kit Kat bar wrapper.

On the cards, they wrote, “You are one cool Kat” and strung the Kit Kats and paper cards together. We told kids to give the Kit Kat and note to a classmate who seemed sad, lonely, or discouraged.
