Keeping Life Simple Revisited-4

7.Get creative with your family time. I try to take a family member with me every chance I get. I also try to combine my family time with something else. I go walking with Julie, cycling with Julie, sushi eating with Whitney, tennis with Yancy and Julie, movies with my son-in-law and shopping with them all. Because I was flying out to NYC this week I rode with Whitney to take my Mom home Sunday. To have 3 hours by my self with my grown daughter is a real treat. I look for every hour possible to hang with my family. In turn they are a real stress reliever for me as well. In my book “Connect With Your Kids” I go into detail of ways to get creative with your family time with your spouse and your kids. 8. Schedule a break even if it’s only for a few hours when you are at you craziest. Even convicts get time off for good behavior. If I can’t go out of town or schedule a massage I make time to play my guitar or visit a music store or make a Starbucks run, or visit a bicycle store. These kinds of breaks are real therapy for me and all take me to a happy place. I am on one of these breaks right now. It has been so crazy between the kids, the youth, college ministry, & JWM stuff I now see that me scheduling a late December vacation was more than just a good idea it was His leading months ago when I scheduled it. It has been a long time dream to get to go to New York during the Christmas season. I’ve always wanted to go see the Tree at Rockafeller Center. In the natural this is the worst time for me to be gone in the the Lord’s timing it’s the best. So while you are reading this Julie & I are having a blast, getting all rested. I wrote this before I left and had it post automatically so I’m still resting while I’m blogging.
