I am blessed to have relationships with some very cool people in children’s ministry. I have asked some of my children’s ministry friends the same five questions. Here are is what Dale said:
1. In a short paragraph, tell us about you.
Dale – I have been serving in Children’s Ministry for over 22 years. I am currently the Director at Christ Fellowship in Palm Beach, Florida. My wife, Pamela, and I have been married for over 22 years and have two sons. Josh is 21 and Caleb is 17.
2. What have you done that has attracted the most kids/families?
For us, our biggest opportunity to reach families is the weekend services. It’s our priority.
3. What have you done that has had the biggest spiritual impact for kids/families?
We have a class called Journey 4 Kids. It is a class kids go through with their parents before they are baptized. In the class, we explain what it means to have a relationship with Jesus and follow Him in baptism. Each month we have not only children, but also parents who step across the line of faith and follow Christ in baptism as a result of attending the class.
4. What would you never do again? Why?
Skip taking my day off or not using my vacation time. For the first 18 years of my ministry, I worked too many hours and didn’t take enough time off. It caught up with me and I eventually crashed and burned physically and mentally. I recovered but learned the hard way that you must rest and observe a Sabbath day if you’re going to go the distance.
5. What are you working on in 2012?
We are developing a milestone strategy for families from the cradle all the way to college. We are currently creating the classes that will accompany the milestones. I am really excited about the spiritual impact this is going to have on families.
