5 Questions. 5 Answers w/Jim Wideman

I am blessed to have relationships with some very cool people in children’s ministry. I have asked some of my children’s ministry friends the same five questions. Here are is what Jim said:

1. In a short paragraph, tell us about you.
I’m just a guy that came in contact with a really big dream and vision for kidmin 35 years ago. That dream and vision still has me today. The vision has opened lot’s of doors for me. It’s led me to work at 5 great churches, mentor hundreds of leaders, speak to thousands in conferences and travel millions of miles around the world.

2. What have you done that has attracted the most kids/families?
Built effective children’s ministries in churches over four decades that has touched thousands of kids and volunteers
3. What have you done that has had the biggest spiritual impact for kids/families?
It’s hard to tell what’s had the greatest impact my work with kids and volunteers or my ministry to children’s leaders. I’m excited about getting more and more of my teachings and things I’ve learned in book form.
4. What would you never do again? Why?
That’s a hard one, I don’t like outside events and would never do one again unless my Pastor wanted me to. I hope I never move again because I love my Pastor and what God is up to at World Outreach Church. I also love living in Tennessee but I would move if God told me too. I think the only thing I’d never do again is to say I’d never do something again. I want to listen to what God is saying to me today not what he told me years ago. Before I moved to Tennessee my Pastor asked me a question that rocked my world… He asked me “How long are you going to be happy telling people what you used to do?” I never want to do that I want to tell people what Jesus is telling me now!

5. What are you working on in 2012?
For JWM- I have a new book I co-wrote with Sam Luce & Kenny Conley along with some other kidmin folks in Infuse 2.2 I think is going to help a lot of people Called “The Eric Trap- 5 things you got to get right in ministry” that should be out in early 2012. I also have 3 other books in my heart for 2012, one I’m co-writing with my wife. I’m adding 2 Alumni retreats for past infusers and their friends (each past infuser can invite a non–infuser to come with them. I’m also speaking at Both CPC’s, Napkin, Orange, D6 & Group’s Kidmin Conference.
At the church we are working a plan for a 30% growth church wide including our children’s and student ministries. It’s an honor to walk this out under my pastor’s leadership.
Personally I’m wanting to do my first 5K in 2012 even if I have to walk it. I want to spend as mush time as I can with my grandson- Sparrow Rocket. I’m looking forward to more time with my girls and their hubbies and my hot wife!

Tomorrow–the wonderful Allyson Evans!
