Gifts That Give

This Christmas season, along with the gadgets, socks, and toys you plan on giving your family, consider making one purchase from an organization whose gifts give back. There are a plethora of companies whose purchased goods benefit others. A simple Google search will help you find and deduce options for your loved ones.

A few options are included below from organizations Orange is partnering with, or has partnered with in the past.

  • Plywood People – – is an innovative community addressing social needs. They are always searching for social problems with the hope to match them with entrepreneurial creativity to organize, innovate and manage ideas that produce change.
  • Compassion International – – is a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
  • Land of a Thousand – LOTH is coffee on a mission. They work at a grassroots level to ensure not only that you get one delicious cup o’ Joe, but that your dollars change the lives of the people who grow the beans.
  • – TOMS was founded in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie, inspired by a trip to Argentina where he saw extreme poverty and health conditions, as well as children walking without shoes. With every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. And thanks to their customers, as of September 2010, TOMS has given over one million pairs of new shoes to children in need around the world.
  • Gift Card Giver – – What do you do with that $1.37 cents that’s let on the gift card you were given for Christmas? Turn it in to Gift Card Giver. The gift card industry has risen to be a 60 billion dollar industry. Between 10 to 15 percent of gift cards go unused. That means millions of dollars are sitting on gift cards, waiting to be used for good. Gift Card Giver collects and distributes gift cards to appropriate non-profit organizations that can use those cards to help others.
