As most of us that are leading ministries are solidifying our teaching plan or are making shifts because of some of the current events, here are 3 things that I think you absolutely must teach your preteen ministry about this semester.
1. Bullies
Bullying is something that doesn’t seem to be going away. It’s a bigger topic than ever and it’s something that most of your students have dealt with at some point. Give them an opportunity to talk and find some healing.
2. Money
But my preteens don’t have money, why would I teach on it? Here are a few reasons that I can think of:
- they will one day
- Jesus said where your treasure is, there your heart is. Do you care about your student’s hearts?
- Their parents are worrying about this more and more everyday with where our country is right now. Give’s the kids something to remind mom and dad of when they talk about money.
Jesus wants their hearts. They give their hearts to stuff instead. Talk about that.
3. Family
Duck Dynasty is one of the most popular series on Television. It’s centered around the family. The family is one of the systems designed by God. Every student is a part of a family and the “family” looks different than ever before. Here’s a few ideas in my head:
- I’ve got two families
- Loving my crazy uncle
- Leaving a legacy, leaving a family vice
- Do I have to honor my step dad or step mom
What topics are you teaching this semester?
