How to Invest in Volunteers: TIME

In ministry, we will always be investing in volunteers. No matter what our role is, volunteers are key. I wish that I understood this principle when I had first got started in ministry. Unfortunately, it took me years and I’m just starting to apply some key principles in giving leadership to volunteers. I still have a super long way to go. But here is an acronym that I came up with at the beginning of this year to keep me focused on investing in my leaders.

Here is the acronym:

T- Training

I – Identifying Greatness

M – Modeling

E – Encouragement

The next four posts, will be covering these topics and how we are trying to accomplish these at Switch. In addition to these four things, the acronym reminds me that time is what makes a true difference. Your time with them and their time with the ministry. Spending time with your volunteers is essential to making a difference.

What are some ways that you think about investing in your volunteers? What systems do you have in place?
