George W. Bush Receives Award for “Unflagging” Support of Israel

Former Israeli President Shimon Peres made a historic visit on March 21, 2015 to the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, to present former President Bush with the Friends of Zion Award. The honor was given to recognize President Bush’s longstanding and unflagging support for the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

“It is a great honor to present you with this prize,” Peres said upon conferring the award. “You have always demonstrated concern for the security of Israel and have worked towards peace.”

President Peres is the international chair of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem, for which the award is named.  This unique museum is devoted to telling the stories of non-Jewish friends and their contributions in protecting the Jewish people and establishing of the State of Israel.

The Friends of Zion Heritage Center, located in Jerusalem, features a one-hour tour informing visitors about the lives of non-Jewish friends of Zion, such as President Harry S. Truman, Oskar Schindler and others.

The Friends of Zion Heritage Center is also sponsoring I Will Not Forget—an event remembering “the darkness and the light” in the persecution and the protection of the Jewish people. I Will Not Forget is being hosted in thousands of churches worldwide on April 15 in observance of Yom Ha’Shoah, Holocaust Memorial Day. Churches wanting to learn more may visit IWillNotForget.net.
