The BBC is reporting that Iran has released four Iranian Americans today, including Pastor Saeed Abedini of Boise, Idaho.
Early Saturday, Pastor Saeed’s wife, Naghmeh Abedimi, wrote on Facebook, “It is confirmed: Saeed is released!!!”
Saeed Abedini is an Iranian American Christian pastor detained in Iran since July 2012 for organizing home churches..
Another of the released prisoners is Washington Post reporter, Jason Rezaian, who was convicted of espionage in Iran last year.
Former FBI agent, Robert Levinson, who disappeared in Iran in 2007 while working for the CIA on an unapproved intelligence mission, was also released.
Iran said the four individuals were swapped in exchange for the freedom of seven people imprisoned or charged in the United States. Iranian officials report the swap is part of a landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers.
U.S. officials said Iran is also freeing a fifth American, a student detained in Tehran last year, separately from the swap.
