Nepal was still recovering from the deadly earthquake in April 2015, which took the lives of over 8,000 people, injured thousands more, and displaced “an estimated 2.8 million people,” when a brutal cold front hit their country.
Freezing temperatures have increased the price of warm clothes in local markets, hindered children from attending school and many from working in the harsh environment. Displaced families are currently at risk of hypothermia, according to The Himalayan Times.
Franklin Graham shared on Facebook that India has blockaded the Nepal/India border, so supplies and food cannot be brought in. Samaritan’s Purse delivered a cargo plane full of supplies for Nepal and flew the items up to villages in higher elevations with a helicopter.
