THE BRIEF: Science says no evidence people are born gay * Judge blocks Obama’s trans agenda * Lochte owns it

Quote of the Day

“Some of the most widely held views about sexual orientation, such as the ‘born that way’ hypothesis, simply are not supported by science.”

A new report from John Hopkins

What Smart Leaders Need to Know Today

A federal judge in Texas is blocking the Obama admin’s agenda to force public schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom they identify with most. This controversial directive from the Obama camp has created a ripple effect on transgender issues in our culture, but a Texas judge is having none of it.

She blinded me with science

Scholars at John Hopkins just published a whopper of a report on gay, lesbian and transgender studies. Their key finding? Science doesn’t back up the “born this way” theory that’s so widely accepted in our society today.

Another suicide bomb, this time in Turkey

A brutal suicide bomb went off at a wedding in Turkey, killing at least 54 people. The super sad part—it was carried by a 12-year-old boy. ISIS is known for their detestable use of children, and this is another notch in their unfolding story of wickedness and destruction. As leaders, we should all keep our eyes on Syria, Turkey and Iraq.

Viral anti-porn video features Elizabeth Smart

Elizabeth Smart, remember her? She’s going viral in a new video that calls out the wickedness of porn.

The story

Smart was abducted from her bedroom at age 14 and forced to live in a makeshift campsite just two miles from her home. It was the longest nine months of her life. She was repeatedly sexually abused and the one thing that made it even worse…

In a chilling testimony, Smart says, “I can’t say that he would not have gone out and kidnapped me had he not looked at pornography. All I can say is that pornography made my living hell worse.”

Rio games wrap up, but Lochte’s still on the hot seat

The Rio Games are officially in the books. It was a wild ride filled with gold medals, amazing sportsmanship, beautiful scenery AND…bathroom scandals with the U.S. Swimming Team.

The breakdown

Ryan Lochte originally said he was robbed at gunpoint in the streets of Rio. The story sounded like a dangerous encounter with Lochte and four other U.S. Swim members as the victims, but the Brazilian officials didn’t buy it. Once they started piecing together the video footage, they uncovered the real story.

Lochte’s Vanilla Ice street cred

What really happened? Lochte was drunk and vandalized a restroom gas station, was detained by security guards and paid for the damages. Although, the PR damages will not be as easy to pay off.

Life Lesson

So many. But the biggest…it’s always foolish to cover up your sins.
