Newton believes God protected him after he was in a serious accident in 2014. “I am a prime example of how God can turn something that was bad into something that good,” said Newton.

The 6’5? and 245-pound athlete comes from a strong Christian background. His father, Cecil Newton, is a bishop presiding over five Pentecostal churches based in Georgia.

He recently posted on Instagram Luke 12:48: “To whom much is given, much is required. Thank you God, for giving me this platform, I will be forever be thankful.”

He says of his success on the football field, “It’s just a God thing. I thank God every single day. I’m just His instrument and He’s using me on a consistent basis daily. [God is] using me to extend His word and I’m a prime example of how God could turn something that was bad into something that was very great If God is with me who can be against me.”
