Myers says there are “credible accounts of multiple ballots received, more votes than there are registered voters, discarded ballots, and more.” Because Christians believe in absolute truth and in loving our neighbors, he says, “It should be churches and people of faith who stand firm, not for our preferred candidate, but for justice and the rule of law to be upheld in our communities and in our electoral process.”
Last week, Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, called it dangerous to speculate about voter fraud in the absence of specific evidence. This week, however, he emphasizes that “if there is such malfeasance, then it needs to be investigated.”
In his daily briefing on Monday, Mohler said, “The opportunities for malfeasance are of course more widespread with absentee balloting and with early balloting.” It wasn’t reassuring, he adds, for votes to have arrived “in dribs and drabs over a process of at least five days, five excruciating days when you understand what is at stake.”
Trump supporter and Texas pastor Jack Graham tweeted last week that he’s “praying that the lies and cheating will be exposed and [Trump] will be fairly re-elected.”
Some Trump Supporters Are Going Viral
Paula White, the Florida pastor who serves as Trump’s spiritual adviser, tweeted a call for fervent prayer on the president’s behalf. “There is great concern that some are trying to steal this election,” she wrote. “Let us pray to God, who knows all, to reveal truth. Pray that the enemies to God are quieted and their plans are overturned.”
In a video posted by Right Wing Watch, an arm of People for the American Way, White leads a passionate prayer for Trump’s re-election. “Strike, strike, strike until you have victory, for every enemy that is aligned against you,” she says, “for you will give us victory, God.” White continues, “I hear a sound of an abundance of rain, I hear a sound of victory, I hear a sound of shouting and singing, I hear a sound of victory.” The pastor also speaks in tongues and says, “Angels have even been dispatched from Africa right now.”
Video of Kenneth Copeland also went viral over the weekend, with the televangelist laughing profusely about media claims of a Biden victory.
Another Trump supporter, author and radio host Eric Metaxas, has been tweeting extensively about the disputed election results. “This is not complicated,” he writes. “Voter fraud is illegal. Biden is in trouble.” In another tweet, Metaxas writes, “If Biden had won FAIRLY, I’d accept him as president. But what I know makes me strongly suspect he did NOT. … Watch & pray.”
