Eric Metaxas Is Being Sued for Spreading Dominion Voting Fraud Claims

Dominion, which was founded in Canada, says it has no partisan (or Venezuelan) connections. Coomer’s lawsuit acknowledges he had “a private Facebook page” where he “shared political views and was critical of President Trump.” But, it notes, “Dr. Coomer’s professional life was separate from his personal political opinion. Dr. Coomer did not participate in political groups and did not donate to campaigns. Dr. Coomer worked with elections officials—Republicans, Democratic, and independent—across the country to make sure the process was safe, secure, and fair.”

The suit adds, “The ability to have a political opinion in this country is a protected right. It remains a protected right, even if critical of a sitting president. That criticism does not denote conspiracy or fraud.”

Controversy and Partisanship

Metaxas has been making headlines for recent politically oriented activities and comments. On December 15, he participated in a Jericho March that melded politics and religion. Metaxas posted a photo with My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell and introduced Info Wars host Alex Jones as a friend. “When God gives you a vision, you don’t need to know anything else,” Metaxas said at the event, where participants chanted, “Stop the steal.”

Rod Dreher, a fellow conservative, wrote in December that he was concerned about watching Metaxas, a longtime friend, turn into “a religious zealot.” Dreher added, “I dread the Biden presidency, but I believe the man won the race. I think it’s possible that there was election fraud in some places in this big country of ours, but based on Trump’s performance in court since Election Day, I don’t believe that it is provable, if it existed at all.”

In a January 11 Facebook post, Metaxas wrote: “OK, what’s the CRAZIEST conspiracy you’ve heard lately? I’ll start: The American voters elected Joe Biden to the presidency. Of course it’s embarrassing to admit, but I know people totally CONVINCED it happened, despite the obvious lunacy of it & all the evidence to the contrary.”

On January 7, the day after the U.S. Capitol was breached, Metaxas wrote on Facebook: “Along w/millions of my fellow Americans I am convinced this election was illegitimate, so yes we have a problem. As a Christian I’m obliged to love my enemies & to praise God in all circumstances. So we pray now to the Lord of glory that He do what man cannot & save our Republic.”
