Rich Wilkerson Jr.’s VOUS Church in Miami posted the day of the collapse, saying, “VOUS is in contact with Surfside PD to assist in any way needed. We are on the ground providing residents and first responders with resources. We will continue to update you with our efforts throughout this rescue effort. Let’s join our hearts in prayer for families, first responders and our city leaders!” The church is taking donations for various items, such as water bottles, blankets, and phone chargers.
VOUS and others are posting about the tragedy with the hashtag #prayforsurfside. One woman said on Instagram, “Yesterday, during our prayer mission visit at the memorial site of the building which collapsed in Surfside, my sister-in-law Mara and I met and prayed with Maria, who is a local hospital medical professional, and her son who are hoping that Maria’s employer of more than 10 years whose name is Dr. Cohen will by the grace of God be rescued along with other survivors.”
