Two-Time NFL Super Bowl Champion Retires: ‘I’m Going to Be a Pastor’

Wisniewski, a Pittsburgh native, won Super Bowls with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. After clinching his second championship, Wisniewski posted a photo of the confetti-filled celebration and wrote: “This moment is the best part of winning a Super Bowl to me… I’m looking up to Jesus, my Savior, from whom all good things come, and by faith I am in His Holy presence. In His presence is where I experience the greatest joy in life, whether it’s in good times or in bad. Ps 16:11.”

Speaking to Sports Spectrum last year, Wisniewski opened up about the “rollercoaster ride” of NFL life, including injuries, losses, cuts, and frequent moves. He believes God gave him the high points and victories in such a topsy-turvy way “so that [God] would get all the glory.”

With his football days behind him, Wisniewski will now give God glory from the pulpit. And according to former teammates, he’s well-qualified for that ministry role. Chiefs punter and fellow Christian Dustin Colquitt once said Wisniewski gets so fired up about his faith that “he could be a preacher in the South.”
