Donald Trump Defends Supporters’ Chants of ‘Hang Mike Pence’

In a transcript of the exchange published by AXIOS, Trump is recorded as going on to say, “And I’m telling you, 50/50, it’s right down the middle for the top constitutional scholars when I speak to them. Anybody I spoke to — almost all of them at least pretty much agree, and some very much agree with me,”

The former president then seemed to justify his support of the chants of “Hang Mike Pence,” telling Karl, “because [Pence is] passing on a vote that he knows is fraudulent. How can you pass a vote that you know is fraudulent?”

Trump concluded by telling Karl, “Now, when I spoke to [Pence], I really talked about all of the fraudulent things that happened during the election. I didn’t talk about the main point, which is the legislatures did not approve five states. The legislatures did not approve all of those changes that made the difference between a very easy win for me in the states, or a loss that was very close, because the losses were all very close.”

Trump’s Faith Is Popular With Evangelical Leaders

Trump has been outspoken about his Christian faith since joining the political world, and he gained support from many prominent evangelical leaders including Franklin GrahamPaula WhiteGreg LockeRobert JeffressJohn HageeAl Mohler, Greg LaurieJentezen Franklin, and John MacArthur.

The former president, who said “the prayers of religious believers helped gain our independence,” told VICTORY Channel host Gene Bailey that nobody “has done more for Christianity, or for evangelicals, or for religion itself than I have.”

This past September, he joined Sean Feucht at a Washington D.C. worship event titled “Day of Prayer for America,” telling those in attendance via a pre-recorded message that “America is a nation strengthened and sustained by God and the prayers of all his children. Your faith is a force that our enemies can never, ever extinguish. Your love of God, family, and country is more powerful than any adversaries’ hatred, or malice, or scorn.”
