N.C. Sheriff Won’t Remove Bible Verse From Office, Tells FFRF He Is ‘Afraid of Burning in Hell’

“I was raised in church,” Greene said, who has worked in law enforcement for 30 years. “My training taught me to value God, family, and my country. Going back to the Bible verse, I have taken many pictures with that Bible verse in the backdrop with not a single issue, but now that we are going into an election year, it is an issue. How absurd! It seems to me we have a few sheep in wolves clothing. That’s all. This is a political ploy. Some want a person that they can control.”

“Companies spend thousands of dollars on motivational classes, to come up with motivational slogans. My motivation comes from the greatest motivational speaker of all times, (sic) Jesus Christ,” said the veteran Sheriff.

“We need more Jesus and less politics,” Greene said, sharing statistics regarding drug overdoses and referencing the drug and gang violence that claims the lives of many young people in the county.

Greene has received support from many within the community, five of the County Commissioners, and even North Carolina State Representative Brandon Jones.

The Sheriff attached an image from the FFRF to the Facebook post, which depicted a man calling himself an “unabashed freethinker” who is “not afraid of burning in hell.” Greene said, “I am not scared of much, but I am afraid of burning in Hell.”

“It is time, past time, to stand up,” Greene concluded. “So let me be clear, I will not waiver on my stance and Christian beliefs.”

Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post from Greene has been liked over 3,000 times and has almost 2,000 comments, the majority of which are in support of the Sherriff.
