Christian Leaders Respond to Ghislaine Maxwell’s Guilty Verdict; Express More Work to Be Done

Denhollander concluded, “This could have, and should have, been brought to light long ago. Had prosecutors and detectives done their job instead of shielding a powerful predator, the cost would not be so high. The conviction is a powerful message, brought in large part by the survivors who fought for so long to be heard. But it is also a sharp reminder of how much work is left to be done.”

Others Respond to Maxwell’s Guilty Verdict

Some notable Christian leaders posted their thoughts regarding Maxwell’s guilty verdict on their Twitter accounts. While many expressed their delight in the jury’s decision, they also shared how they want those that participated in Epstein and Maxwell’s human trafficking ventures to be exposed and brought to justice.

Epstein and Maxwell were friends with many high profile celebrities and politicians, many of whom have been known to visit Epstein’s private island, where most of the sexual abuse encounters occurred.

Christian author and teacher Beth Moore wrote, “This Ghislaine Maxwell trial, in my opinion, has been of tremendous importance. Found guilty on 5 of 6 counts. I long for those women to see some semblance of justice done here.” A Twitter follower of Moore’s replied, “Yes 👏 now I pray that the men that abused these girls are held accountable.” Moore responded with “Indeed!”

Outreach Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Ed Stetzer expressed his gratitude for those who believed the abuse survivors, saying, “Thankful for the Ghislaine Maxwell conviction, but also worth remembering that they almost got away with it. Thanks to local news reporters who continued on the case, believed the survivors, and eventually shed more light on these crimes.”

Popular worship leader Sean Feucht called for those who participated in the Epstein sex trafficking scandal to be exposed and held accountable, writing, “NOW LET THE TRUTH COME OUT behind Ghislaine Maxwell and every single person involved in the Epstein sex trafficking scandal!! We must press on until we know the TRUTH! #HoldTheLine

Ray Ortlund, the President of Renewal Ministries, tweeted, “Justice in our society means, among other things, that children so deserve to be protected that we rightly demand that of one another.”

Rachael Denhollander’s husband, Jacob, said, “Guilty on 5 of 6 counts.” Beth Moore replied to Jacob’s post saying, “Extremely important.”

Christian author, evangelist, and founder of the A21 Campaign, Christine Caine, posted, “This conviction is monumental.” Her good friend Beth Moore agreed, tweeting, “Absolutely.” A21 Campaign’s mission fights to end human trafficking.

Samaritan Purse’s President and CEO, Franklin Graham, wrote, “Ghislaine Maxwell has been convicted of federal sex trafficking charges, and I know many people are relieved. What she and Jeffrey Epstein did was just sick. And the people who visited Epstein’s island & mansions for sex are just as sick. Some of those involved were politicians in high places & wealthy corporate leaders. We may never know the extent of all that took place or the names involved since Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his NY jail cell. But one thing is for sure—God knows. The Bible says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). One day, all of us have to stand before Almighty God & give an account for our lives. Everything will be revealed; there will be no hiding or covering up. But there is an advocate available, and He is the Lord Jesus Christ who bore your sins to the Cross. Ask Him to forgive your sins and put your faith and trust in Him. Turn to Him today before it’s too late.”
