Anti-CRT Atheist Author Tells Timothy Keller to ‘Repent’

Lindsay has publicly criticized former SBC president J.D. Greear, as well as former influential SBC members Beth Moore and Russell Moore, for their “woke” agenda within the SBC. On Sunday, Lindsay took aim at another high profile evangelical leader whom he believes is pushing wokeness: Timothy Keller.

Timothy Keller, who was the longtime pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, which he founded in New York City, and is a founding member of The Gospel Coalition as well as best selling author, posted a link to a lecture video on Twitter last Thursday. The title of that lecture was “Developing a Biblical Critical Theory” and was given by Christopher Watkin at Reformed Theological Seminary New York City.

“Lots of confusion out there over Critical Theory. See this helpful lecture by Chris Watkin,” Keller tweeted. “It not only explains what a critical theory is, it shows that it’s possible to develop a biblical critical theory.”

On Sunday, Lindsay replied to Keller, saying, “Its better name is Critical Marxism according to Critical Pedagogist Isaac Gottesman. You insist that’s compatible with and should be applied to the Bible?” Lindsay later retweeted Keller’s link, saying, “Told you before, Tim. God’s not going to be happy. Repent.”

Lindsay was referring to a previous exchange between the two, where Keller tweeted a reflection on his journey with stage IV pancreatic cancer. In response, Lindsay told Keller, “[God is] gonna be real mad at you for what you’re doing to His Church.”

“The point of the video is that the Bible critiques every single culture. I hope we are all open to criticism,” Keller replied.

“Not Criticism,” Lindsay said in return. “You can’t play these games with me, demon.” Lindsay again told Keller, “Repent. The serpent is in your mouth.”

“Proving my point James,” Keller said. Retweeting Keller’s reply, Lindsay said, “I’d tell you I’d pray for you, but unlike you, I’m not a liar.”

Lindsay also took aim at Christian author and podcaster Marty Duren, after Duren replied to Lindsay’s call for Keller’s repentance by quoting Psalm 14:1, which says, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’”

“Depart from me. I never knew you,” Lindsay replied. Later in the exchange, Lindsay referred to Duren as a fool, a serpent, and a demon, and warned him to “straighten your sorry, unworthy a** up,” saying that judgment awaited Duren.
