Jane Marczewski’s Family Posts Her Final Message: ‘Grieving Is the Soul’s Way of Saying It Mattered’

Marczewksi went on to advise fans that “everybody who might be getting a dose of this whole toxic positivity” don’t have to buy into it. Marczewski refers to toxic positivity as a “just be happy, just be happy” expectation, regardless of what’s happening around.

Marczewski said, “You don’t have to feel guilty for being sad,” sharing that she struggled with that a lot. “Because I used to believe that if I was sad it meant that I wasn’t fighting hard enough or I wasn’t grateful enough—and that’s not true.”

“Be sad and be grateful and look at the twinkly lights and feel your feelings,” she said. “It’s all real! The joy and the pain is all real. You don’t have to pick one or the other—life is beautiful or life is garbage. It’s kind of both sometimes.”

Marczewski’s brother Mitch created a GoFundMe page in honor of his sister to create a memorial foundation that donates to cancer research and financially assists those battling cancer who need treatment.

“Jane lived like two, three years longer than what the doctors said she was going to live,” Mitch told WSLS News. “She did that through the help and prayers and financial support of so many people from around the world.”
