According to RNS, a legal representative for the couple says, “Laura and Carl Lentz are aggressively moving forward with legal action due to these libelous claims that are rooted in lies and misinformation.”

On Monday, Laura Lentz posted a photo to Instagram that read “Enough is Enough.” In the caption, she wrote: “My family has remained silent throughout this ordeal because our priority has been the healing of our family. This does not mean we do not have a lot to say! When the time is right, we have a lot to say about what has happened as well as speaking directly to the RELENTLESS lies, accusations and hypocritical scapegoating that has sadly been so prevalent. Until then, we are so grateful for the constant support of so many. Your kindness has meant the world to us. We are looking forward to a brighter day!”

Troubles Keep Piling Up for Hillsong Church

Last month, an investigation by the same law firm into former Hillsong Dallas pastor Reed Bogard was leaked, and Brian Houston resigned as global senior pastor of the embattled megachurch. Several U.S. pastors have recently broken ties with Hillsong, which is portrayed negatively in a new documentary airing on Discovery +.

On Change.org, a petition demands that Hillsong “consult ex-members and survivors” as part of its independent review—and then make the findings public. “Without this guarantee, any investigation will be hollow and fail to deliver significant long-term change to protect and safeguard Hillsong attendees into the future,” say petition organizers, an Australia-based coalition called Religion Shouldn’t Hurt. More than 11,000 people have signed the petition.

This is a developing story, and ChurchLeaders will update it with any new information or comments.
