A fire department spokesperson tells ChurchLeaders that the injured firefighters are “all doing well.” Although none had direct connections to Balsora Baptist, “We are a pretty close community and know most everyone around.”
First responders, adds the spokesperson, were moved by the cross that remained standing. “It was a reminder that it was just a building that was lost, and that the church is the congregation—evidence of Matthew 18:20.” That verse reads: “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (NIV).
