Others tweet additions to the signs, writing that “We Will Adopt Your Baby…and kick it out of our lives and home if [it] turns out anything but Christian, cisgender, heterosexual, and Republican.” Another writes that after adopting your baby, “then we will: 1. Mask/ignore their trauma 2. Disregard their families/cultures of origin 3. Demand they cultivate a sense of gratitude for being saved 4. Feel generally self-congratulatory about all of it.”
Internet sleuths reveal that one couple who’s going viral for their sign, Sebastian Schuff and Neydy Casillas, can’t adopt in the United States because they aren’t citizens. Casillas, who served as international legal counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, also is being called out for working for “an anti-LGBT hate group.” That same tweeter adds, “This isn’t just some random smiling childless couple.”
