At the national level, Democrats are calling on Congress to pass legislation that would codify Roe and ensure abortion access across the United States. On Friday (June 30), President Joe Biden expressed his desire that the Senate do whatever is necessary to accomplish the task, including ending the filibuster.
“We have to codify Roe v. Wade into law,” Biden said. “And as I said this morning: If the filibuster gets in the way, then we need to make an exception to get it done.”

In the meantime, abortion providers in states with restrictive abortion laws are shuttering the doors to some of their clinics. On the other hand, crisis pregnancy centers, many of which have been subject to vandalism and threats of violence, are poised to expand their footprint.
