On the church’s Facebook page, someone writes in the comments: “Just a reminder, your pastor is a nutcase that has nothing to do with [Jesus’] ministry. God likes spiritual fruit, not religious nuts. Please don’t fall for the lies of a narcissist.”
In its coverage of the pancake dustup, Newsweek includes statistics from a 2014 Pew Research Center survey about religion and marital status. Of the 8,562 evangelical Protestants surveyed, 14 percent were divorced or separated. That was the second-highest rate among religious groups in America. (Only “historically Black Protestants” came in higher, at 19 percent.)
