7. Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington is an accomplished actor, director and producer who is not shy about speaking about his beliefs. In a 2021 interview with his friend, Pastor A.R. Bernard, Washington described a moment decades prior when he was filled with the Holy Spirit. “I was filled with the Holy Ghost and it scared me,” he said. “I said, ‘Wait a minute. I didn’t want to go this deep.’ I wanted to party.”
Even though he was not ready to follow God with all of his heart at the time, Washington said the experience helped to keep him grounded. Submitting himself to God over time has been a process. “I speak now and I’m doing what God told me to do from the beginning,” he said, noting how easy it is for Christians to forget that Jesus died for their sins. “We know, but we forget constantly, moment by moment.”
Washington was vocal about his faith in a 2021 interview with the New York Times and elsewhere said that one of his motives for his film “A Journal for Jordan” was he “wanted to please God.”

Washington, along with actor Tyler Perry, also prayed with actor Will Smith after the incident at the 2022 Academy Awards when Smith slapped host Chris Rock on the face.
