Stanley Cup Serves As Baptismal Font for NHL Player’s Kids

Manson, who has a four-year deal with the Avs, describes coming to faith as a young adult, when his mom faced a grim cancer diagnosis. He promised to dedicate his life to God if she was healed, and though “a miracle” did take place, he didn’t fulfill his end of the deal right away. After meeting the woman who became his wife, however, Manson learned of her Christian faith and “remembered the promise that I made to God.”

Manson, 30, tells “Sports Spectrum” that Josh McDowell’s Book “More Than a Carpenter” was key to his conversion. He also describes the life-changing impact of becoming a father. “Wow, this is how Jesus loves me,” he realized. “I know my heavenly Father feels the same way about me” as I feel about my child.
