Despite a ‘Messy’ Ministry Path, Beth Moore Says Quitting Isn’t an Option

Moore says she resents how concepts such as submission have been “taken and twisted,” negatively affecting women. While discussing power structures within the church, Sprinkle and Moore address the scriptural complexities that Christians must grapple with. Both men and women can flourish and have dignity, Moore says, because “our paradigm is in Christ.” People won’t study tough Bible passages “because they’re afraid they might learn something,” she says. Instead, we are “drawn to what we like” and “set about reaffirming that.”

Moore says she wants to keep walking with Jesus and loving as he does. “He gives me joy and makes me happy, even in the midst of all of the storm and the wind and the waves,” she says. “Would I have chosen any other life than the one that was chosen for me? Absolutely not!”

Sprinkle encourages Moore to “keep being Beth,” to “stay close to Jesus,” and to “never go home.”
