Dove Award-Winning Artist Canceled by MLB Partner League Team Because of Pro-Life Stance

Hammitt and Save the Storks’ CEO Diane Ferraro joined Fox News’ Fox & Friends on Sunday (August 28). Ferraro shared that they are “pro mom, pro family, and our mission is to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. And we do this through pregnancy resource centers around the country. And we do this through our mobile medical units, what we call stork buses, of which we have almost 80 stork buses around the country now in 30 states.”

“We were under the impression that they canceled it because we are a pro life ministry,” Ferraro told the Fox & Friends hosts. “You know, our t-shirts say ’empowered women, empower women,’ and we say ‘celebrate life.’ We are not a political organization. We are not offensive. We do everything with love and compassion. And we are just part of the community, and we wanted to be part of an incredible family night. There was nothing offensive about it at all.”

Hammitt shared that his son Bowen, who was scheduled to perform alongside his dad, had been diagnosed with a life-threatening heart disease, saying, “We chose life, because we believed he had inherent value from God. And we’re just all about working with Save the Storks to empower other people to make that choice, who desire to choose life. And it’s really just been an incredible opportunity to be part of Save the Storks. We hope to do more of these events in the future.”

Sarah, Hammitt’s wife and Bowen’s mother, shared a post the night the event was cancelled, which said, “When Bowen was in my tummy I had several doctors tell me that I should choose to end my pregnancy.”

“Appointment after appointment, adamantly and often, they would tell me all the ways that Bowen would be a burden too heavy to carry. They were wrong! Bowen has never been too heavy to carry. It’s been my honor. And now we choose to tell the world our story of choosing Bowen. Always with love and compassion for all. Never with hate or shame. Sad that tonight we were silenced,” Sarah said.

The Hammitt’s released a documentary titled “Bowen’s Heart” in July wherein they share how chronic illness impacts their entire family. It’s now available on all major digital streaming platforms.
