Women Earn Less Than Men Because They Are Not As ‘Good at Working,’ Says Pastor

When addressing whether or not Christians should pray for “reprobates,” Shelley told the congregation he thinks they can pray for Donald Trump. The pastor was clear that he believes Trump is not saved, but said he does not know if the former president is a reprobate. Shelley could not give the same encouragement toward prayer about an “obvious, open sodomite or pedophile like Barack Obama.”

At one point in his sermon, Shelley said that feminists, who are known for wanting to empower women, are actually idolizing men. Feminists are “masculizing women,” said the pastor, by telling them to “get a job, get a d*** haircut, get the pants, go to work, talk rough, talk mean, share your opinions, be loud, let your voice be heard. It’s like, turn into a man. And then they still don’t pay them as much because they’re not as good at working.”

Shelley made his comments on women and beauty in the context of giving women as an example of what it looks like to curse God in one’s heart. When women dress immodestly, they disobey God and are therefore committing this sin. “Our society is turning into a nation of whores,” said Shelley. “There are women walking into church that look like a two-dollar whore.”

The pastor said the Bible’s definition of “nakedness” is any skin exposed between the knee and groin area. So if women show skin above the knee “in a provocative way, that’s not just immodest, that’s being naked,” said Shelley, adding that this is still the case even if people are exposing their legs in the context of swimming at a pool or lake.

When expounding on what attractive women look like, Shelley said that women of certain shapes and sizes are not attractive, and he gave rapper and actor Queen Latifah as an example. “Queen Latifah is not attractive,” said the pastor, saying that “it gets worse” the more of her body she reveals.

But “most women don’t look like Queen Latifah,” he continued, so showing off their bodies appeals to men. Shelley implied that the majority of women are attractive and addressing the men present, he said, “If you’re struggling to find an attractive woman, I’m afraid of you, ok? You’ve got problems.”

Shelley also said he holds the men in a woman’s life primarily responsible for her actions. “When I see a woman dressed inappropriately, I blame her husband or father,” he said. “So you can get all mad at me, women, but realize that I’m way more upset with the men than I am the women.”
