VP Harris Applauded for Pro-Abortion Comments During The National Baptist Convention; SBC President Condemns Remarks

McKissic took issue with Buck’s question, telling him that it’s “really unwise what you’re doing. I belong to both conventions. I love both conventions. But, if we go to hurling insults and playing the shame game, it really won’t look good for the SBC. I adjure you to not dishonor the Kingdom of God by sowing discord between the two conventions.”

The two pastors went back and forth until SBC president Barber answered, “1. Yes, it’s stipulated in the bylaws. 2. Yes, I tend to be someone who follows bylaws over angry Twitter folk. 3. Anyone who doubts @pstrvictor’s conservatism isn’t paying attention. 4. There ARE denominations out there that practice the sort of secondary separation that makes it a sin to occupy the same room as someone who disagrees with you. I’m thankful that’s not the SBC.”

Clarifying his question to Barber, Buck said, “Who said it was a sin to be in the room? All I said was I would be in favor of not sending someone at our expense to a convention that openly supports abortion. I am completely for separating from people who support abortion.”

“I don’t lack confidence in conservative ideas,” the SBC President responded. “I don’t assume that a conservative person will be tainted by interaction with people who aren’t conservative. I think biblically conservative ideas are strong. Therefore, I’m in favor of advocating for good ideas anywhere we can.”

Buck further pressed Barber to condemn the applause that was issued to Harris after she openly called for Christians, especially leaders in the room, to support abortion.

Barber answered, “Completely.”

“Please note that I never criticized you or @pstrvictor. I simply said I’m in favor of not going back. I don’t think that’s being angry Twitter folk,” Buck posted.

Chayasirisobhon chimed in at the end of Barber’s and Buck’s conversation, saying, “What’d I miss? I was watching She Hulk…”
