Pastor Arrested While Watering Neighbors’ Flowers Extends Love to the Woman Who Called 911 on Him

The suit also claims that Jennings sustained injuries that “include, but are not limited to, loss of constitutional and federal rights, emotional distress, and/or aggravation of pre-existing conditions…Plaintiff also continues to suffer ongoing emotional distress, with significant PTSD type symptoms, including sadness, anxiety, stress, anger, depression, frustration, sleeplessness, nightmares and flashbacks from his unlawful arrest.”

During a news conference about his lawsuit, Jennings said that he does not have a problem with the police force in and of itself. “One thing I want to make crystal clear is I am not anti-police,” he said. “We need the police or there would be chaos. But there are bad police and there are good police…what they did that day, they did with impunity, figuring there would be no action taken against them. I felt dehumanized.”

In an opinion piece for USA Today, the pastor pondered the history of racism in the United States. “If we fail to address the issues, history is bound to repeat itself,” he said. “I am grateful that God spared me on that day. I’m grateful that God can use me moving forward to help spread his message that we are all made in the image of God and in his likeness…God, please forgive those who pass or have passed judgment upon your creation based solely on the color you assigned to your creation at birth.”
