‘This Is Not a Dress Rehearsal’—Fox’s Ainsley Earhardt Discusses New Book and How Pastors Have Influenced Her

CL: What role has media played in the current state of our nation, especially the impact it has on our children?

Ainsley: It’s interesting, because you can find whatever your political beliefs are on TV. I’m glad that the journalism has changed. I mean, sometimes we can give our opinions on the morning show. The news shows don’t give their opinions, but primetime does, and our Fox & Friends morning show does, which gives me an opportunity for me to talk about the Lord. Fox has never told me what I can and can’t say, and in fact, they came to me a few years ago and said, “Ainsely, I know that your Bible study is very important to you. You talk about it on air a lot. Can we come to your Bible study and and record it for Fox Nation?” And I said, “Of course, we would love that.” So I got permission from the Bible study, and they brought the cameras in, and we started doing that now as a segment. And now we go around and find different celebrities, different millennials, and we change the different themes. We had an NFL panel on recently, where we interviewed some NFL moms and their Bible study in Nashville. Or we interview different people on Fox News that have a relationship with God. So, I mean, what other network would allow anyone to have a Bible study and it’s not a Christian Network?

CL: If you could say anything to encourage leaders within the church today, what would it be?

Ainsley: Don’t stop. We are praying for you, and we need your messages. Thank you for going to seminary. Thank you for pouring your life into Jesus and then pouring into our lives. Thank you for going to the hospital to visit so many of those in your congregation. Thank you for taking phone calls in the middle of the night when a family is going through their deepest, darkest despair. Thank you for all the church meetings—even the ones you don’t like—and for handling the finances regarding the business of a church. Thank you for staying late and talking to people and teaching others that your family is your priority. We are grateful.
