“The number one thing young people say they know about Jesus is that He was crucified,” the partners wrote of the study. “This suggests the Church globally has done a good job communicating that Jesus died for us.

“However, teens feel less sure that they can have a personal relationship with Jesus and that He is active in the world today. What can we do to change the narrative so teenagers around the world know … they can have a personal relationship with Him and experience Him in their lives.”

Partners in the study exhorted churches to listen to teens.

“The study supports leaders across the world who want to create something not just for teenagers but with teenagers,” the partners wrote, “to come alongside this generation, collaborate with them, guide and learn from them.”

In addition to the U.S. and Canada, the study included teens from eight European countries, six Asian, four Latin American, four African countries and two in Oceania.

Study findings are available here.
