At Dove Awards TobyMac Talks Son’s Death, Collaborating With Sheryl Crow, and How a Youth Pastor Changed His Life

“I first met her in the car pick-up line at my kids’ Christian elementary school,” TobyMac said. “We were at a little chapel service, where we started talking and met each other. And [I] just heard her heart and didn’t even recognize who she was at first, but [I] recognized her as a woman of strong faith in God.”

Since then, TobyMac had always wanted to do a song with her but was waiting for the right one. “Promise Land,” from his new album “Life After Death,” ended up being the right one, McKeehan said.

TobyMac is nominated for two Dove Awards and will perform during this year’s ceremony, which will also feature performances by Anne Wilson, Steven Curtis Chapman, Blessings Offer, and Maverick City Music. The awards will air this Friday on TBN at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. EST.
