After describing the alleged trap that God helped him escape, Driscoll tells congregants, “I’ll always tell you the truth.” He warns them about believing everything they hear in the media—especially on social media platforms. Libel, slander, and defamation laws “don’t necessarily count” if you’re a public figure, says Driscoll, adding that whether pastors are public figures remains unclear. The pastor then shares slides about “fake news” and Americans’ growing distrust of the media.
