Former RZIM Leaders ‘Not Fit To Be in Ministry,’ Says Team of Apologists

Ramsden allegedly threatened some RZIM employees in the United Kingdom with extradition to America. At issue was the possible breach of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) between Zacharias and accuser Lori Anne Thompson.

Report Cites ‘Smear Campaign’ Against Ruth Malhotra

The new report addresses the alleged mistreatment of several specific former RZIM employees. One is Ruth Malhotra, the organization’s former PR manager, who said she was shunned for seeking information about the scandal. Malhotra claimed that senior leaders “systematically marginalized, maligned, and misrepresented” her to other people.

The apologists conclude that “Malhotra was subjected to gaslighting, flattery, and manipulation during the same time that she was harshly retaliated against for raising important questions about Ravi’s behavior.” The way leaders treated her, according to the report, indicates a “sinful pattern at RZIM” of victim-blaming and retribution.

Malhotra says she received no severance payment upon leaving RZIM because she refused to sign an NDA. This happened, the report states, despite Phillips’ claim that NDAs wouldn’t be required or enforced at the organization.

RZIM Leaders Slandered Nabeel Qureshi, Report States

Nabeel Qureshi, a Christian apologist who died in 2017 at age 34, had been mentored by Zacharias and was an RZIM speaker. According to the report, Zacharias “was jealous of Qureshi because he was getting more speaking events” than him. As a result, Zacharias allegedly disparaged the younger man’s character and worked with the SLT to have him fired—despite telling Qureshi he would someday succeed Zacharias.

After Qureshi was fired, Zacharias and other leaders allegedly disparaged his character. Investigators say they’re “immensely grieved” by the treatment of Qureshi, whom others characterize as innocent.

Other former employees, who fear retaliation, claim that RZIM leaders reprimanded them for insubordination and scolded them spiritually for raising concerns about Zacharias. Some employees are still in therapy for trauma, the report states, but RZIM has stopped covering those costs.
