Is John Crist Indirectly Dismissing His Accusations of Sexual Harassment?

In March 2021, Crist returned to stage for the first time since being accused of sexual harassment. After his performance at the Grand Ole Opry, he posted a heartfelt segment on his Instagram story highlights, titled “Life.” In the post, he explained that prayers from supporters during his time in therapy kept him alive amid suicidal thoughts.

“About 16 months ago, I really was going to end my life,” Crist said. “I remember specifically this story. I was in rehab, out in the desert in Arizona, and I was so sad and I was full of so much shame. I didn’t want to participate in the recovery process or try to get better or anything.”

Crist admitted that what he went through was a result of his own “horrific choices” and said that he took responsibility for the “whole situation.” The comedian explained that he wouldn’t wish what happened to him on his worst enemy, nevertheless adding, “The only thing worse than what happened to me is if it would have never happened to me.”

Later that same year, Crist told comedian Nate Bargatze that he was “100 percent” happy that the Charisma News article was written about him. Crist also began performing regularly, going on his first tour since entering rehab.

Although Crist’s career has picked back up, some have expressed concern, revealing that some of Crist’s victims have confirmed that he never apologized to them or reached out to make an amends. Instead, he makes jokes about the accusations.

Crist Jokes About Bathsheba Being the Original ‘Thirst Trapper’

More recently, Crist has people questioning his take on David and Bathsheba, including Lori Adams-Brown, former Echo Church associate campus pastor and spiritual abuse survivor, who responded to Crist’s words by posting multiple red flag emojis.

Crist shared his take on the biblical story during his “Net Positive with John Crist” podcast last week (Nov. 10).

During the podcast, Crist shared about a skit he has yet to release about David and Bathsheba. Describing how David looked down from the rooftop of his palace to see Bathsheba bathing, Crist pointed out that their rooftops must have been within 50 yards of each other. He asked his girlfriend, “How far do you think you could see a naked woman?”

“My joke in the video is, like, they’re talking to Bathsheba. She’s like, ‘Oh, you didn’t know the king lived next door,’” Crist went on to say, adding, “His terrace was up here and you’re just out there bathing on your roof?”

Nearly three years after Crist was accused of sexual harassment, he said, “It’s always painted as like Bathsheba was like the innocent [one]…I’m gonna call you on that. ‘You didn’t know the king was like off duty?’”
