Disciple, Andy Mineo, and Anne Wilson Help Winter Jam Witness Over 7,200 Salvations in 3 weeks

Disciple just released a new song from their upcoming album “Skeleton Psalms,” titled “The Executioner,” a song Young described as autobiographical.

“It’s just, you know, my own life and even just struggles with sin as a Christian,” Young said. “The band wanted to highlight where Jesus talks about dying daily and being crucified with Christ.”

“We really wanted to highlight that there’s no eulogies for the old man. When somebody gives a eulogy at a funeral, they’re like, ‘Oh, he was a great guy and this is all the good things he’s done.’ But here’s no eulogies for that type of life that Jesus has saved us from. We really wanted to highlight—that is what it means to die daily. It’s the the ugliness of who Jesus is saving us from. So it’s a really special song to me personally,” Young shared.

“Let the hammer swing down. I’ve made my peace. Said my goodbyes. There’s no eulogies. When this convict dies.” – Disciple / “The Executioner”

Describing Disciple’s upcoming album, which will release on April 28, Young said, “It’s probably the heaviest album we have ever done…It’s by far the most screams I’ve ever done on an album.”

Black said that this tour is successful year after year because “no matter what band or what type of exciting elements are put into the show, the gospel has always been front and center. Winter Jam has made the most important part the proclamation of the gospel and giving people an opportunity to respond to Jesus.”
