Mahomes, who is still feeling the effects of a high ankle sprain he sustained in the Chiefs’ playoff win against the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 21, credited God for giving him the strength to run and get a crucial first down that led to a game-winning field goal against their AFC Championship win against the Cincinnati Bengals almost two weeks ago.
“I know that I’m blessed to be in this position, and I know that I’m here for a reason: to glorify him,” Mahomes said. “And so it means everything, not only about my football career, but all the decisions that I make. And so I have a faith backing. I know why I’m here, and it’s not about winning football games. It’s about glorifying him.”

Mahomes explained his faith helps him with the pressures that come with being in the spotlight on the field, adding, “I’m on that football game on that football field to glorify him before everything. And so it’s not about winning or losing. It’s about going out there and being the best I can the best that I can in his name.”
The MVP quarterback shared that he has grown in his faith over the last few years, which has helped him understand why he plays the game.
