Saying his goal is to remain grateful, Yancey acknowledges he’s “had a rich, full, and wonderful life with more pleasure and fulfillment than I ever dreamed or deserved.” He praises the selflessness and care of Janet, his wife of 52 years, as well as supportive friends and his medical team.
Although Yancey’s future is “full of question marks,” he’s “not unduly anxious.” He writes, “I trust a good and loving God who often chooses to reveal those qualities through his followers on earth. I have written many words on suffering, and now am being called to put them into practice. May I be a faithful steward of this latest chapter.”
