‘This Feels Like a Full Circle Restoration’ Says Head of Original Content, Katherine Warnock
Previously head of faith and family content for MGM Studios, Katherine Warnock now leads content for “The Chosen.”
In a statement to ChurchLeaders, Warnock said that as news spreads about “The Chosen” being available to hundreds of prisons around the country, she has responded with “incredible joy.” She continued, “My professional career began through prison work, so this feels like a full circle restoration to my roots. It’s personal to me.”
The goal of the series is to “tell the incredible story of one of history’s most prolific men through the lense of those who knew him best,” mentioned Warnock. “Incarceration doesn’t change that human need for connection—to be known, seen, and understood. We all need hope, no matter the address or social status we claim.”
When asked what she hoped those in prison took away from “The Chosen,” Warnock replied, “The same hope we have for anyone watching ‘The Chosen’—That they would come away from watching ‘The Chosen’ and think it’s an incredibly well done show that left an undeniable impact on their lives.”
It’s increasingly important that those in prison have access to “The Chosen.” As Warnock described, “Culturally there is a stigma that surrounds incarcerated men and women—a stigma that communicates that they are less than or lower on the humanity scale.” She continued, “The life of Jesus and the very stories we are telling through ‘The Chosen’ fly in the face of that preconceived notion and historic human habit where people are compared, contrasted, and ranked.”
Warnock shared, “We hope our show is depicting authentically, potentially for the very first time in the manner that we go about it, that Jesus went out of his way to shake up those very societal norms.
