Another person who said he’d buy this apparel for his kids tweeted that Isaac may have “trademark issues” with his company name. A statement from Ohio-based UN1TUS (which has the number one in its name) notes it has been “established and trademarked since 2013” and “is in no way affiliated or linked to Jonathan Isaac’s start-up.”
Christian NBA Player Has Made Headlines Before
At the height of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, Isaac was the only member of the Magic who stood for America’s national anthem before games. The athlete, who’s also an ordained minister, was roundly criticized for that decision. After Isaac suffered a devastating knee injury in August 2020, some commentators mocked the irony of his refusal to kneel.
During the pandemic, Isaac took a stand against vaccine mandates, saying COVID shots seemed forced. “I don’t see the wisdom in putting something into my body that’s not going to stop me from getting the virus or transmitting it,” he said at the time.
In 2022, Isaac released the book “Why I Stand,” sharing his Christian testimony and describing how he lives out his faith.
